Sussex County Community College's Culinary Institute and Arbor Restaurant have garnered acclaim with the Business Innovation Award from the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce at their annual luncheon.
According to the Chamber, the Business Innovation Award recognizes a company that initiates new ideas and/or approaches to doing business and challenges the status quo with outside-the-box thinking to improve business processes or services. This award underscores SCCC's commitment to culinary excellence and forward-thinking initiatives.

Sussex County Community College has embarked on a culinary journey that is truly one-of-a-kind in the area, with its Culinary Institute and Arbor Restaurant/Bakeshop. The College is renowned for its innovative approach to business, with ideas that revolutionize every aspect of the culinary experience, such as a student-run restaurant and bakeshop that serves public and private events and community cooking workshops.
SCCC's Culinary Arts and Baking and Pastry Arts programs blend traditional techniques with cutting-edge methods, preparing aspiring chefs to excel in today's dynamic culinary landscape.
In the Arbor Restaurant, patrons are treated to a symphony of flavors crafted by talented students, showcasing their mastery of techniques learned in the classroom setting. With a dinner and lunch experience that includes a 3-course meal and baking delicacies for the Bake Shop, these real-world experiences are the stepping stones that prepare the students for a successful future in the culinary world.
The Arbor Restaurant has served over 1,500 patrons and welcomed over 350 guests for our community workshops, both of which have sold-out reservations. Our unique experiences can be booked through our Tock Reservation system, which is easy for our community members to use.
