College for Working Adults
The College for Working Adults at Sussex County Community College is a unique program designed especially for adults who are managing work and family responsibilities and want to earn their associate degree quickly and conveniently.
We currently offer the College for Working Adults for individuals looking to earn their Associate of Science in Business Administration.
Accelerated Schedule Without the Guesswork
A traditional college semester runs 15 weeks. The College for Working Adults offers accelerated 10 week blocks of instruction. Each block involves 9-10 credits of study, including both classroom and online instruction. The blocks are offered 3 times every year. Students take 3 courses in the fall semester (September through November), 3 courses in an early spring semester (late January through early April), and 3 more courses in a late spring semester (April through June). In addition, there are two online summer courses. At this pace, it is possible to earn an associate degree in only two and a half years!
A Balance of Relevant Online and On-Campus Classes
The College for Working Adults schedule is planned with adult students in mind. One course meets every Friday night on campus and another course meets every other Saturday morning and is supplemented by online instruction. The third course will be taught completely online.
Classes are designed to give students the skills needed in today’s competitive global market.
Support Every Step of the Way
The College for Working Adults is delivered in a cohort format, which means that you will start and finish the program with the same group of students – adults like you. You will find yourself in a learning community of compatible adults who help and encourage each other through the program. Caring faculty and staff offer personalized attention and academic support and the faculty work together to deliver integrated instruction as much as possible.
An advisor who recognizes the unique needs of our adult students will counsel you in the program on academic and transfer issues. Tutoring and additional support services are also available online and in-person.
Easy to Transfer
Sussex County Community College graduates transfer to the top colleges and universities in New Jersey and across the country. Our Counseling Center will help you understand transfer requirements and walk you through the process. Additionally, we have partnered with Felician College to offer courses leading to a bachelor’s degree right on the SCCC campus.
