  2. Make sure that you meet all criteria for each individual scholarship for which you are applying.

If applying for the John Cocula Memorial Scholarship, click HERE to download the separate application.

If applying for the Vernon Township Republican Organization Scholarship, click HERE to download the separate application.

  1. Submit an essay on the following topic (maximum 2 pages - must be typed): Please note some scholarships may require a different essay.  Please see attached list of requirements. Your essay is a crucial component of your application. Content, grammar, and spelling are all taken into consideration.

      1. Why do you feel you are deserving of this scholarship, and
      2. What are your college goals and career goals?

In your essay, please address specific requirements for each of the scholarships you have checked.

    Example:

      • Do you need to be 23 years of age or older?
      • Active in campus activities?
      • A member of the Psychology Club?
      • Related to a firefighter or police officer?
      • Specific challenges or accomplishments you have met or attained?
  1. If the scholarship requires that you demonstrate financial need:
      • Remember that SCCC Scholarship criteria are different than the state and federal guidelines.
      • If you have filed a current FAFSA with the Financial Aid Office, no further action is needed.
      • If you have not filed a current FAFSA, and you are under 24 years of age, not married and do not have children, you must provide the most recent income tax returns for yourself and your parents.  If you are 24 or older, you must provide only your income tax return.
Please enclose all tax returns in a sealed envelope.
  1. Provide only one letter of recommendation in support of your candidacy unless otherwise noted under Special Criteria.  Most students select a faculty member.
  1. Students accepted into the clinical portion of the PCCC Nursing Program may ONLY apply for the Anne M. Lubrecht scholarship, Ingrid Grau Memorial scholarship, and the Genevieve E. Smith scholarship.
  1. Return your completed application with your essay and any other necessary documentation to the Counseling Center, Room B-206, by Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 8:00 p.m.

(Exception: the deadline for the Deputy Chief Daniel Rumsey Memorial Scholarship is March 22 at 8:00 p.m. )
  1. The Senior Vice President of Student Services will determine whether or not you are a student in “good standing” after your application has been submitted.
  1. Scholarship funds will be applied first to a student’s account and thereafter other assistance if present.  Students with a positive balance will be eligible for a “pass through” of funds, however, if the terms and conditions of a particular scholarship prohibit a “pass through” then any unused scholarship funds will revert to the Foundation account from which the funds originated.  Scholarship funds are provided to students who are qualified based on the specified criteria of the scholarship (for instance full time with a minimum GPA); if the student’s circumstances or situation change, the scholarship award may revert back to the Foundation account from which the funds originated.
