Spotlight on Lisa Krauss-Utter

When you ask Lisa Krauss –Utter what brought her to SCCC, her answer is simple:  she loves the field of hospitality.  As Program Coordinator for Hotel and Restaurant Management at SCCC, Krauss-Utter brings 35 years of experience in the food service industry to the College since arriving four years ago.

"Teaching at SCCC gives me the opportunity to do what I love while helping train the next generation of hotel/restaurant and food and beverage managers," said Krauss-Utter who has worn such hats as a chef in a restaurant, manager of a bakery/deli, and a caterer. 

Krauss-Utter had her start at Sullivan County Community College where she received an A.S. in hotel and restaurant management.  She went on to receive her B.S. from East Stroudsburg University in the same field and then her M.A. in Education, Administration and Curriculum from New Jersey City University.  Krauss-Utter also spent 15 years as a chef instructor and is excited for the new Food & Beverage option at SCCC to be launched in the Spring of 2010.  "Sussex County continues to expand its tourism base and needs qualified well-trained employees," Krauss Utter said.  She added, "SCCC is poised to meet that challenge and I am thrilled to be able to contribute."
