'Love Gilda' Screening coming to Sussex

10/31/2018 10:13:34 AM

Fans of beloved comedian and Saturday Night Live actress, Gilda Radner, can laugh and cry alongside the late artist during an intimate screening of the 2018 documentary, “Love, Gilda,” at Sussex County Community College in honor of National Hospice Month.

The screening, which benefits the Joseph T. Quinlan Bereavement Center, will take place Friday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the SCCC Performing Arts Center. The event includes a question-and-answer session after the screening with five-time Emmy winner Alan Zweibel and his wife, Robin, who are producers of the film. Zweibel wrote for Saturday Night Live during Radner’s tenure as an original cast member.

Admission to the event is free but reservations are required. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The documentary, from Magnolia Films, tells Radner’s story through the voice that knows her best—Radner herself. The documentary blends tapes, home movies, and diary entries from Radner with interviews with friends.

Spanning life and career to her death at age 42, its focus on her four-year battle with ovarian cancer makes it a stunning choice to honor National Hospice Month. In addition to Radner fans, an array of people, including seniors, film and writing students, and those who are interested in learning about the hospice process, would benefit from the viewing.

The screening is a joint venture between SCCC, the Quinlan Foundation and Bereavement Center, and the county Office on Aging.

To attend, please reserve a seat at KarenAnnQuinlanHospice.org/LoveGilda or call (973) 383-0115 ext. 145.
