Position Overview

Sussex County Community College is seeking a highly qualified, enthusiastic and student-focused full -time tenure track Business Program faculty member who represents a commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarly activity, and will support the value of diversity, equity and inclusion to the College. The successful candidate will be a demonstrable expert in their area, interested in advancing both their expertise and the discipline by being an active professional in the national landscape of Business scholars. The candidate must have a strong demonstrated background and expertise in the business and accounting area and will contribute to a program that includes degrees and certificates in Business Administration, Business Management, Accounting, Marketing, International Business, Supervision, Communications, Supply Chain, and Economics. Duties and expectations of this position include the following: excellence in teaching both face-to-face and online courses while utilizing the Canvas Learning Management System; developing and implementing curricula; ensuring course assessment; undertaking professional development; applying the Business Program’s and the College’s strategic plan; continuing service to the college; scholarly activity; implementing community outreach and networking; and taking leadership roles when assigned. The successful candidate will contribute to the service of the college by serving on committees, collaborating with the faculty and other college colleagues on college initiatives, and being a dedicated team player within the Professional Studies and Social Sciences department. The faculty member will contribute to student success by mentoring students and providing expertise based on their personal business and accounting experience. All of the above are considered essential to the success of the position.

  12. Demonstrate skill at networking with community partners.
  13. Provide support and oversight to the Business & Entrepreneurial Club and student organizations on campus.
  14. Embrace Campus Life initiatives that foster student involvement.
  15. Possess effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as organizational skills, aimed at facilitating communication with supervisors/students/colleagues.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree required, doctorate preferred, in business, accounting, or a business-related discipline. 
  • Experience in a professional accounting related position, private small business or corporate business preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience in both the classroom and online courses at the community college or university level preferred.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

  • Utilize technology in creating presentations and content for the classroom and online using the institution’s learning management system.
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

 

Salary:  $44,594.67 per year.
