Job Description

The SCCC Campus Security Specialist focuses on providing a safe and secure environment for student, faculty, staff and guests of the college.  Responsible for the College’s Security department and serves as a public safety, security and other operations in accordance with facility necessities. Reporting to the Director of Campus Operations

  1. Responsible for building access, protection, parking safety and providing overall security presence.
  2. Maintaining knowledge of all Emergency Operation Procedures and College regulations as well as daily campus operations and facilities.
  3. Assumes the role of Emergency
  4. Coordinate fire and lockdown drills on campus
  5. Develop and maintain professional relationship with local law enforcement and fire officials
  6. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and work with other on campus to communicate and address issues and concerns.
  7. Conduct investigations as appropriate and assist others as needed.
  8. Conduct vulnerability audits and assessments of campus safety & security.
  9. Ensure compliance with college policies and procedures.
  10. Manage database systems that may include emergency mass notification, electronic locks, ID cards and parking permits.
  11. Answering all calls from both in-house and outside lines and assists, directs and/or reconnects calls as needed.
  12. Dispatching security, facilities or other appropriate personnel where needed throughout campus.
  13. Watches for and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards and emergency situations; contacts emergency responders, such as police, fire and/or ambulance personnel as required.
  14. Monitoring SCCC security camera system.
  15. Operating SCCC access control system in both daily operations and during critical incidents.
  16. Managing parking permit and photo ID processes.
  17. Dispatching and/or notifying vendors for Campus facility or safety issues.
  18. Answering all campus emergency calls following the national PST/EMD protocol; forms initial assessment and triage; decides appropriate response and initiates all necessary emergency actions outline in the SCCC EOP (Emergency Operations Procedures) Guide.
  19. Being the direct liaison to all local emergency services.
  20. Manages communication between incoming first responders and College Security during emergency incidents.
  21. Broadcasting emergency and/or urgent information over the SCCC public address system throughout campus together with transmitting alerts and timely warnings as needed through emergency notification systems.
  22. Notifying appropriate college personnel of emergency or urgent situation as per EOP guidelines.
  23. Testing campus safety equipment and communication devices.
  24. Overseeing and recording the routine maintenance and accountability of all campus first aid/medical and safety equipment.
  25. Receiving, recording and posting all class delay/cancellation notifications.
  26. Overseeing the “Lost and Found” and attempts to return items to their owners.
  27. Documenting campus violations and appeals.
  28. Processing Incident Reports.
  29. Recording all parking permit applications.
  30. Maintaining and updates for Clery Act compliance.
  31. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
  32. Assist the public and community in a professional and courteous manner.
  33. Assist the Campus Safety and Security Directory as needed.

Essential Skills:

  • High School Diploma required, Associates Degree preferred or a minimum of 7 years in a command level management of police/security.
  • RPO carry license.
  • SORA certification, or be able to obtain prior to employment.
  • Ability to work, organize & operate with a high level of efficiency under pressure & extreme stress.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously and make critical decisions that affect campus wide response & reaction.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Assist the public and college community in a professional and courteous manner.

Preferred Skills:

  • CPR, First Aid, AED Certified
  • ICS & NIMS training certification preferred
  • Knowledge of Clery compliance
  • Experience operating computers using Microsoft programs

Salary:

$23.00 per hour
