With over 14 competitive teams spanning various sports, SCCC offers students exciting opportunities to compete regionally and beyond, enhancing campus life and giving students a strong sense of community.

SCCC’s Skylanders program is designed to promote athletic excellence and enrich the overall student experience. Whether students are pursuing their passion for sports or looking to support their peers, the Skylanders teams provide a platform for skill development, teamwork, and personal growth.

The Skylanders’ teams have been recognized for All-Academic Honors by the NJCAA for the 2024-2025 season, recognizing student-athletes for their academic achievement. SCCC had 27 students awarded the All-Academic Honors by achieving an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2024-25 academic year.

In addition, the Skylanders Baseball team was nominated for the NJCAA Academic Team Award with a total team GPA of 3.30.

“We are thrilled to see our Skylanders athletes thrive both on and off the field,” said Athletic Director Todd Poltersdorf. “Our commitment to fostering a supportive environment where students can excel in athletics while pursuing their academic goals remains constant.”

Through the Skylanders program, students have access to outstanding coaching, athletic facilities, and opportunities to compete against other colleges and universities in the region. The program’s expansion underscores SCCC’s dedication to providing comprehensive student engagement opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.

This past year, SCCC and Skylands Stadium in Augusta became the official home of the College’s athletic programs. Beginning in August 2025, Skylands Stadium will host Sussex Skylanders football and baseball teams, offering student-athletes the opportunity to compete in a professional sports environment.
