Twenty-four years have passed since the tragic events of September 11, 2001. As a nation, we united in solidarity with our fellow Americans. To commemorate the lives lost, Sussex County Community College (SCCC) will host a ceremony marking the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on Thursday, September 11, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the College's 9/11 Memorial on Connor Green.
The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m., featuring local firefighters, police, and EMS personnel who will show their support. The Newton Choir will perform the National Anthem, followed by remarks from keynote speakers and a welcome from Herb Yardley, Chair of the SCCC Board of Trustees. A wreath-laying ceremony and the playing of Taps by Bugles Across America will honor the lives lost.
