Sharing of Personal Information by SCCC

SCCC may also disclose Personal Information to third parties, such as service providers or vendors engaged as School Officials, who assist with marketing, advertising, or promotional efforts. "School Officials" encompasses SCCC employees, including faculty and staff, along with certain external individuals like vendors, contractors, or service providers authorized to perform work for SCCC.

In accordance with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Part V, § 14-15, we are legally permitted to share your account information or other personal data with non-affiliated entities under specific circumstances. These situations include:

  • Sharing information with service providers as needed to facilitate the delivery of requested products and services, process transactions, and maintain accounts.
  • Providing information to credit reporting agencies in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Furthermore, under FERPA guidelines, no student records will be released without the student's consent.

SMS Texting

SCCC uses SMS text messaging as one of several channels of communication. Communications with incoming and current students are directly related to student safety or student academic success, which is considered critical and/or time sensitive.

SMS texting relays any of the following messages:

  • Emergency notifications
  • Campus closures
  • Student information, inclusive of admissions, academics, student accounts, and financial aid
  • Important information and time-sensitive information, inclusive of deadlines and notices critical to student academic progress
  • One-on-one communication from SCCC staff regarding appointments and meetings that support the success and retention of the student
    Receivers of text messages may opt-out from SMS texting from SCCC by replying to the text message with “STOP”.

External Third-Party Consent

SCCC websites and services hosted under the sussex.edu domain may include content from external third parties or links that direct users away from SCCC’s Technology Services. Please note that when you access pages featuring external third-party content, information such as your IP address, date, browser, and referring page will be sent from your computer to that third party. SCCC is not liable for the privacy practices or content of these external entities.

Data Security

Privacy Protection and Minors

Our services are not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect, share, or use any information from or about children who are younger than 13 years old.
