FAFSA Workshops

The US Department of Education will release the 2024/2025 FAFSA on December 31st, 2023.  Due to the late release, NJHESAA has extended their renewal student deadline until May 15th, 2024 for this year only.

Select and register for the date you wish to attend below.  Workshops are held in the Administration Building, Room B315 on Wednesdays, at 6pm.

For the 2024-25 FAFSA, you will need the following:

  1. NEW for this year!!  Student and parent must create a FSA ID and Password 3-5 days prior to completing the FAFSA application.  You may do this at www.studentaid.gov .  If you already have a FSA ID and Password, be sure to bring it with you to the workshop.  For a tutorial on how to create a FSA ID, go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pitb_aIQBVc .
  2. The student and parent must have access to their cell phones and email accounts.  This is more important than ever, as your parents or spouse will now be referred to as "contributors".  You will be "inviting them by email" to complete their section of the FAFSA.
  3. The student must bring their driver’s license if they have one, and both student and parent should know their Social Security Number.
  4. Bring all income documents with you such as:
    • 2022 tax return
    • W-2 forms
    • Know your parent's or spouse's names, date of birth and Social Security Numbers as you will be setting them up as "contributors" on the FAFSA form.
    • Know the amount of child support your family received between January and December of 2023.
    • Know the balances for checking, savings, and any investment accounts such as CD’s or 529 Plans for you and your contributors. No retirement accounts are necessary.
    • If you own property in addition to your primary residence or rent out part of your primary residence you will need to know the current market value and current principal mortgage balance on your investment property.
    • If you have a business or farm you will need to know the current market value minus any outstanding principal mortgage balance or debt against the business or farm.
