Payment and Billing FAQs

Will I be mailed an invoice?
A bill will be sent to your school assigned email and is also available online through My.Sussex Portal. Paper invoices will not be mailed unless requested at the bursar@sussex.edu.

How do I enroll in the Interest-Free Payment Plan?
You can enroll from inside your student portal by clicking “Payment/Billing”
Use your password (Student ID #) and password.

Is there a fee to enroll in the Interest-Free Payment Plan?
There is a $35 enrollment fee. The Payment Plan is interest-free.

Can I set up an automatic payment?
You can sign up for “Auto Payments” to automatically have your payment taken monthly from your account. Visit My.Sussex Portal, payment/billing and sign up.

Is there a late fee?
Yes, a $50 late fee will be assessed after the due date.

How is financial aid applied to my invoice?
If you are approved for financial aid, it will be automatically disbursed through your student account starting after the second week of the semester, if all criteria are met — direct questions to the Financial Aid Office at 973-300-2225.

Who can help with questions regarding my student account?
The Bursar’s Office will help with any questions regarding your account. Email your questions to bursar@sussex.edu or call 973-300-2106.

Office hours are Monday from 8:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Tuesdays through Fridays 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Electronic Statements

What is Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment?
E-Bill is a way to view your current balance and make secure payments online.

What are the benefits of Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment?
You or an authorized user will be able to view your current statement balance at any time. You can also make a payment on your bill online.

Where do I view my electronic bill?
Visit Make a Payment and sign in with your Student ID and password. You must have a Student ID# and school authorized password.

Can my parents or other authorized users have access to my electronic statement information?
Yes, while logged into the online payment website there is an “authorized user/parent pin” box and by providing the necessary permissions the authorized users will be able to have access.

What should I do if I cannot access my statement or I feel the current bill is not accurate?

Website Notice – 1098T
A paper copy will be mailed to your address on file on January 31st. You may consent to receive an electronic copy by signing into Make a Payment. Choose Tax Forms on the left nav. The method of reporting that Sussex County Community College chooses to report to the IRS for your 1098T is the amount billed for qualified tuition & related expenses.

We accept E-check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard logo on them.

What is E-Check?
It is a free service where the funds are automatically deducted from your checking account.
